Nov 11 - Speak UP

Upward Bound students, with Sheila,  served 20 children in our community service activity Warm the Children. They served as shopping elfs to assist children with purchasing winter outer clothing.

Monday's In-Service is focused on our Equity and Scholarly Habit work. The two topics interact in interesting and complicated ways. How many of our most marginalized students also lack the critical skills (Scholarly Habits) to succeed in school and workplace. What are we to do about it and where does our responsibility land in this work. These are questions we've explored recently and will continue to analyze throughout our transition to a Personalized and Proficiency Based System of learning. Thanks in advance for your ideas, open mind and positive thinking.

I encourage you to take a quick look and bookmark for a deeper dive.

Related - I shared this tool a few weeks ago. Within only a few 'clicks' you can uncover tangible tools and ideas for teaching Scholarly Habits.

Duties Reminder:

Please be sure to prioritize your teacher duties. It's important for safety and maintaining a positive school environment that we are present and modeling a positive attitude and being welcoming at the start and close of each day. I know conflicts arise and sometimes it's a challenge to make it to your duty. Please reach out to your colleagues for help and/or notify the main office - you are all great at stepping up and helping when needed. Thanks.
