May 28 - Final Weekly Notes

Thanks for an awesome and inspiring year. Wow, we've come a long, long way. Your patience, ideas, and resilience has been amazing. Thank you. Now, for the final stretch........hang in there and see you on the other side! I hope you enjoy your extra long weekend.

TA for the rest of the year

Tuesday: 8th Grade step up Activity

Friday: Final TA - on your own

NO TA the final two weeks. However, on June 12th, Tuesday of Finals Week, current 8th graders will visit you in your classroom to share their PLP with you. They will come between 1-2. If the time gets more specific, I'll let you know. Please be prepared for this visit. It should take less than a 1/2 hour and is a great time for you to get to know them. We did this last year.

Wolf PAC:

Earlier this year, we invited all students to apply for the next round of Communicating School Redesign (CSR). The interest was overwhelming and the selection process challenging. We now have a fantastic CSR group to help us with our HS transformation/PBL communication. Awesome!

The process highlighted an amazing need and opportunity. There are tons of kids at PA who want to participate in how we communicate and make decisions about their learning. Therefore, I'm starting a new group at PA and I'm calling it the Wolf PAC (Principal's Advisory Council).

I've invited all of the students who applied to CSR to join the PAC. Several have shown interest. However, I know there are more students who might be interested in this opportunity. If you would like to recommend a student to the Wolf PAC, please send me their name soon. I'm looking for a diversity of skills, ideas and opinions. I'd like to meet with this group prior to the end of the school year.

The current focus of the Wolf PAC is two fold:
1. The PAC will keep us informed through student perspective and ideas about how the PBL implementation and other school initiatives are working (or not).
2. The PAC will help lead and design parts of our PBL and other initiatives.

Students already named to this group are: Meghan Kimball, Eli Smith, Katie Crouse, Dylan Haskins, and Amy Yando.

Final Best Practice:

Our final staff meeting will be at 2PM on Monday, June 11. We will spend some time together reflecting on the year and this will be followed by grading support.

The Future of Student Trips at PA

Many of you have expressed interest in leading international or other extended trips for students in the coming years. Fantastic! These are great opportunities for learning. Thank you.
However, moving forward, we need to plan thoughtfully, maximize the scheduling, provide equitable opportunity for as many students as possible and ensure safe trips.

Thus, if you are interested in leading students trips more than 1 day long, local, national, or international, please attend the following meeting (or let me know your ideas if you can't attend):
          - PA Student Trip meeting: 2:45 5/30 Larson's Room

End of Year Grading Support:

Maura Wieler will be at our final BP to review some grading practices. Among the things she will review are: NEE, override, and verification. She will also be available for 1:1 support after Best Practice on Monday and after 1pm in the library on Tuesday and Wednesday of finals week.
