January 15 - Time for Resurgence

 

Welcome to the end of Semester 1 and the Beginning of Semester 2. We've made it halfway - without closure and with a lot of success. Thank you for your effort to get us here. I know it's been super hard physically and emotionally. I know that we wish we could have done more for our students and maybe even carry around some guilt that we didn't. But, let me tell you. We did, we did a lot for our students, for each other and for our community. You show up every day, work hard, think hard, sometime laugh and sometimes cry. Then you come back into this land of unknown and uncertainty and do it again. Thank you. 

We've been resilient, now it's time to become resurgent. The days are getting longer and brighter and there is an end in site for this pandemic. There is hope in the air. This hope will feed our positive energies and creative thinking. By no means do I mean to minimize our lingering struggles, challenges, and at times, misery. But, you have demonstrated that we can produce good moments and important learning during this pandemic. And, unlike first semester, we are hitting the ground running this time around. I look forward to seeing how you make second semester and 2021 unique, inspiring, and reviving for our students.

- Want to record a lesson? LSUU documentation about recording Google Meets with students has been updated to meet FERPA requirements as outlined in the latest guidance from the Vermont AOE. The two documents that have been updated are the LSUU Best Practices for Recording Google Meet and Guidelines and Info re:Online Meetings. All updates are highlighted in yellow. Activity: Announcements; it will be inauguration day, I might ask students there thoughts on how they are feeling & thinking about it and let them lead the conversation. We'll share ideas for how to prepare for TA during Best Practice.
