May 14 - and the future says.....

Taken straight from The Source  for the purpose of the writing in Bold

With the arrival of spring, increased clarity about what we can expect in the future has also emerged.  We now have the knowledge and tools to plan for our post-pandemic normal.  We know our new reality will require continued diligence regarding health and safety.  We are also very confident that the coming school year will provide for 5 days per week of in-person instruction for all students K-12, and valued learning opportunities such as AP courses, community-based learning, and field trips, are included in our plans for the coming school year.....continued in the The Source.....

Summer Employment Opportunities (in other words Summer Recovery)

This is a reminder to let guidance know if you can help with our summer recovery ideas (see Best Practice notes - Announcements) and some clarity on pay (below)

Compensation for teachers, professional specialists, and salaried school year employees will be based on your current year salary (see The Source for details) :

LSUU will compensate for full-day of professional services (7+ hours per day) on a per diem basis (salary/188).  Per diem work expectations include .....

For high school proficiency recovery, we will compensate teachers for a minimum of 5 days of summer work.  Teachers providing high school proficiency recovery should track their work on an hourly basis, including for time to schedule, encourage, and engage high school students in learning, and will be paid hourly compensation for time above 35 hours.  We want to ensure that teachers who dedicate time to support students are fairly compensated, even if students don’t reliably attend.

Hourly support staff positions, those not requiring a teaching license, are $20 per hour (not to exceed 40 hours per week).  More in The Source ......

Student Led George Floyd Remembrance Event: (May 25th)

- This is an FYI about a student led event, which is not a school sanctioned event. PA student leaders in the Racial Equity and Social Justice group, and probably other PA students, will be walking out of school on May 25th at 2:30pm and heading downtown to lead a remembrance event at the 4 way intersection. Students from SHS, and possibly LUHS, will join our students in downtown Morrisville. Students from PA are leading the event, logistics, and communications. We will discuss this during our next Best Practice meeting. If you have questions or concerns, please see Phil.

PA Based Vaccine Clinic:

- We will be hosting a clinic at PA/PAML in the gymnasium on Thursday, May 27 from 10:00am to 6:00 pm for PA/PAML students (with parental permission) and walk-ins.  Parents will also be welcome to attend these clinics with their children if they would like to do so.  A follow-up clinic for the second dose will be scheduled for June.   Stay tuned for more information on this opportunity!

Last Chapel Update:

This year we will be filming students receiving awards in person.  The filming of this will primarily take place on Thursday, May 20th and Friday, May 21st.  Please excuse any interruptions this may cause as we will be pulling students from class.  We will not pull students if they are in an exam or some sort of presentation (let us know if you have something like this scheduled, we're aware of the AP schedule).

Celebrations:

Mekaylah Bowen is a 15 year old sophomore at PA.  She's been racing at Thunder Road since she was 13 years old.  She brought both her race cars over to MES and let all the students see them, ask questions, and even sign her car.  What an incredible role model for our students, teaching them to dream big and see what happens!
