January 6 - Happy New Year

Students completed the SOAR activity during TA

I hope that you had a good break and successful 1st week back to school. Things appeared calm and productive this week. We had a great fall semester. A lot was accomplished and we've celebrated those successes throughout the semester. On January 17th, we will kick off semester two. We have a community meeting that day during TA time. Please send any celebrations or acknowledgements or ideas for that meeting to Dan.

I'm wondering if the positive fall semester inspired any thoughts and ideas during the SOAR TA activity we completed this week. I'm looking forward to hearing about the ideas and themes from your TA about their hopes, dreams and ideas for Peoples Academy. That data will be included with all the other voices across the district, which includes parents, community members, staff and students from all seven school and three + towns. Thank you for your efforts. On Monday, during Best Practice, we will take some to consider your ideas and the themes that emerged from your TA's. On that note, please come to Monday's meeting with 2-4 themes that were generated from your TA (maybe one from each area) to share with your colleagues.

Staff Coverage

The PA & PAML crew  all know Carrie Slaimen as our favorite full time substitute.  Carrie has taken a position at Central Office and will no longer be our full time  substitute.  This is great for Carrie!  For us, this will present hurdles when covering classes when one of our teachers is absent.  We appreciate all you do that is above and beyond when committing to something extra in your day.

Project Graduation Update

If you haven't already heard,  the group of parents that have been meeting for several weeks have concluded that they can not pursue the Project Graduation Event.  They have attempted to connect with students to gather their input.  There was some voiced interest yet not a collective, positive drive for the event.  Given the high cost for the event, the low level of participation in fundraising, and the mediocre interest we are putting the funds we are gathering from the senior fundraiser towards the senior class trip.

Schoolwide Happenings:

The pep rally was a nice touch at the end of spirit week. I know the musical chairs did not end appropriately and that is being addressed.
