Dec 1 - It's starting to look a lot like...winter

I saw several students bringing in their skis this morning. This always brings a smile to my face because I know it means that we can ski after school without getting into our cars. Skiing out back this time of year is an awesome way to connect with each other, our students, our sense of place and catch a sunset on a good day. I know we don't all ski, but there are other ways to connect through exercise and gatherings after school. As things get busy this time of year I encourage you all to reach out to one another and make it a priority to get outside with your colleagues, even it's only for a 15 minute walk (I spied some of you doing this yesterday). It will help us stay connected and refreshed.

Blast from the past...

Quote of the Week:

'......Perks of exercising outdoors in the winter include improvements in your metabolism, fat-burning, mood, endurance, heart health and sleep. It's usually safe to exercise outside even if the temperature falls into the single digits, but be sure to wear layers, moisture-wicking clothing, gloves, warm socks and a hat....' - source unknown, but it must be true!

Updates/Reminders:

- Project Graduation 2024 - Big news, several parents from this year's senior class have stepped to organize and bring back Project Graduation. What does this mean for you? Students may come by to sell tickets or things and I would imagine later in the year they will be looking for chaperones.

- Food Fest and Holiday Gathering

Are you feeling festive?  Mark you calendars for our upcoming holiday traditions.  We will be meeting at Black Diamond BBQ on 12/15 at 3:30 for some social time out of the building and we will be having our annual Food Fest on Wednesday, 12/20 bring something yummy to share!

Schoolwide Happenings:

US History Presentations in 'A Pecha Kucha' format. This is a Japanese style of presentation. Each student creates a slideshow that tells a story over the course of 20 slides, 20 seconds each that automatically advances. Students researched a topic they were most interested in during the WWII period. Topics ranged from Women's Impact on the War, Spies of WWII, The Winter War, Dr. Menegele, and much more. Students spent time practicing their pacing, voice and tone, and crafting a story that naturally flows from start to end.

This in not French 'Aller Pecher' (Go Fish)
