It's MAY!

On Target!?

Who's on Target? Depends on the target I imagine. Forth quarter targets are creeping up on us and this week rosters and narratives are due. Thanks to everyone for your tireless work on this new grading process and for completing your work. For more details, deadlines, etc., please refer to the email the Maura sent you last week with all of the details.

Emergency Drill Update:

The timing of the May drill will be unannounced. When the drill occurs, we will communicate clearly that it is a drill during the practice (like the last fire drill). When you hear the announcement, consider whether or not to evacuate, but you do not need to actually evacuate if that is your choice. Talk through your options and decisions with your students. Practicing barricading is welcome.

Link to Youth-Adult Partnership article by Helen Beattie and Martha Rich
This week, we have a powerful article from our friends at Unleashing the Power of Partnership (UP) for Learning in Vermont who have spent the last decade reimagining youth-adult partnerships within schools and districts across the state. In recognition of their impact and learning, they will be presenting at the Youth Activation Summit at Facebook’s Headquarters next week.

As I think you know, Up for Learning and PA were also recognized last week at the national Youth Activation Summit hosted by Facebook. This was an uplifting and informative event, directed and organized on many levels by students from across the county. Aiden, in particular, impressed and inspired many in the room (students and adults alike). In fact, we may have some funders come knocking on our door to support some of our work. Look closely and you will see him (and me) talking to the crowd in the photo above on the right. You might also notice Helen in the far upper left corner.

Celebrations:

We are pleased to announce that Dalton Gomez will be the new PA Science Teacher in 2018-19. Many of you may remember Dalton as an energetic and enthusiastic student with Stew Williamson several years ago. During the past few years he's been up to many interesting teaching endeavors including high school science at South Royalton High School. He will be visiting us later this spring and perhaps there will a time for you to meet or re-meet him.

Congrats to Alex Grant who was selected as a New England Red Sox Service Scholarship Award winner ($1000!) from the Red Sox Foundation. He will be recognized with other recipients at Fenway Park during the game on July 9th, which is also Vermont Day at the park.

Happy Birthday: Mary Bell (5/7), Michele Walker (5/10), Jeff Brynn (5/11)
