August 1 - School is returning or is it?

     

During the past month, I've spent considerable time trying to figure out a schedule for PA this fall and for the remainder of 2020-21.

During this work, which involved teachers, staff and admin, I've used four main ideas to guide my thinking and decisions:

- student and staff safety
- maintaining choice and diversity in course options
- preserving our profoundly positive and inclusive school culture
- planning and reflecting needs

The task has been one of my most challenging to date. I feel badly that I still do not have a schedule to share with you to help you with your planning and preparation for the upcoming school year*. However, I am confident we will have a schedule soon and that it will provide for the four main areas listed above. I appreciate everyone's patience, understanding and help thus far. Thank you. 

Many of you were able to provide insight and ideas during last week's LSUU wide schedule feedback sessions. Thank you. 
The PA crew working of the PA schedule could use some more specific feedback. If you can take a few moments, please respond to the questions on this Remote Course & Instructional Feedback Survey. You are not obligated and if you don't feel like you have enough information to answer the questions, don't worry about. Feel free to contact me if you want and there are optional check in's this Tuesday and Wednesday - see below. 

*Important note: During the schedule remake process, it has become evident that some of the courses we planned to offer in the fall (and spring) might not run. We are working hard to figure this out ASAP. I wanted you to know that it is possible that something you think you are teaching might not happen.

Alburgh Dunes State Park - worth a visit

Updates:
- The start of school was delayed until 9/8 per the Governor's order on 7/28
- The LSUU school board will be providing guidance on the school schedule on 8/3 at 5:30 pm. 
- Information and opportunities to help with planning based on the schedule decisions will follow quickly after the 8/3 board meeting. 
- The PA Leadership team is meeting on 8/4 to begin forming teams and goals for our collaborative work. Meeting link Any of you are welcome to join. And, soon you can expect invites to planning to follow.
