Welcome Back

Sailing on Lake Champlain in Vermont

The sails are up, the food is packed, the launch is clear, the maps are, well, I'm not exactly sure where the maps are (but we can make them). We are about to embark on an adventure that no one has ever traveled.  Our start will be slow and steady. And, though we have lots to do, many questions to answer, and decisions to make we are fortunate to have creativity, skill, experience and fortitude also in our cargo. You are an awesome group of people with great patience, spirit, kindness and open minds. And because of this, we will succeed. Here is a developing agenda and schedule for Week 1. (Developing being the KEY word.)

The building is ready for your arrival - we look forward to seeing you!

When can I arrive?

For those of you arriving on Monday morning, you may enter the building at the high school main office entrance only. The doors will open at 7:30 am. (The building closes at 5pm)

During the week of 8/31-9/4 the building will be accessible during working hours (7:30am-5pm)

When school starts with students, you will be able to arrive earlier than 7:30 - exact time TBD.

How do I do the Safety Screening?

temperature prior to leaving home. You can also do the questionnaire with Michele or Tarah and take your temperature when you arrive. The more people who can do the at home form, the easier and more fluid the process will be for all of us when arriving to school.

Where do I go?

Prior to 8:15, you can go to your classroom or office and begin to set up and get yourself prepared for the work of the day & week. We should not be congregating in the hallways or other open spaces, but it is perfectly fine to say hello and 'check in' with your colleagues; being conscious of social distancing and mask requirements. We will gather by the front steps to the main entrance at 8:15 - the weather will determine our next move.....

What is going to happen?

We will start in one large group, socially distanced. We will re-connect, meet new people, and review the 'landscape' that lays ahead. This will involve talking in small groups, moving around, and being open, honest, and welcoming (which you are all very good at!).

Other considerations:

BYOB (& CLWC): Bring your own beverage (extra water encouraged), chair, lunch, and cooler (if needed for your lunch) Weather permitting, the start of the day will be outside: dress accordingly.

While in the building please practice social distancing and wear your mask. You may eat and drink in your rooms. Bathroom use is limited to two people in the group bathrooms at one time and please use your judgement to socially distance if you need to wait outside. Eventually, many of the stairways and hallways will become one way. To start, travel as needed throughout the building.

Refer to the following documents for other details and answers to some of your questions about safety and procedures. Time will be provided  during in-service to  review these documents.

Your classrooms look like this. The number of chairs, does not necessarily equate to the # of students that you will have in your courses. When you do learn your student #'s, please consult with Brian about what is acceptable for room set up.

Schedule Update

The topic that is on everyone's mind - what is my schedule?! We do not have your teaching assignments and student rosters completed yet, and will not by Monday either. We plan to have them ready by early next week - we know you need it! While we wait, there are some general schedule things for us to consider, talk about it, and prepare for. We will use time, starting on Monday, to strategize and brainstorm about how we use our time with students both in-person and remotely.
