Will February March?

NO, but April May.

SBAC Update (*Please Read thoroughly*)

You are all aware that the actual SBAC tests are going to occur this week for juniors. We have already met with them to do some training, preparations, and motivations. Thanks to the many of you who were instrumental with these logistics and activities (Janet, Bill S, Karen P, Shannon Rachel, Reeves, Moira, Mike D, and Mary). The most important part is about to begin. Please pay very close attention to students in your classes who are juniors.

- First, double and triple check to make sure who the juniors are in your classes when the testing occurs. Make a note somewhere to remind you and your student to be sure they are not in your class, but at the test location at the appropriate times. (*We missed this a few times during the training.)

- Second, pay close attention to when the juniors are testing and consider work load the night before. We are not in control of how students manage their time, but if you could be thoughtful and responsive to the juniors need for rest, a clear head, etc that would be helpful. I know you already do this, but please be even more considerate during the SBAC testing period. Thanks.

- Third, when the testing comes up in your classes, TA, and elsewhere, please be supportive and positive. Remind students that the SBAC has the potential to be a valuable tool for the individual student and for the school. It is important that we remain positive throughout the process, especially during the final sessions when student patience and focus may lesson.

- Forth, please limit use of the internet in your lessons during the SBAC testing times. The test is completely online, and while we are confident in our technology systems...you never know what might occur if the internet has a heavy load. Thus, thank you in advance for asking students to turn off PD’s during the following times:

  • March 30 and April 1 during C and D Blocks
  • April 5 and 8 during A and B Blocks

Thank you for your support. Below is a link to the student schedule for you to review.
